  1. Hip Replacement Alternative (applesforhealth)
      There's an arthroscopic procedure that may allow some patients to avoid total hip replacement. The technique can relieve most of the pain -- whether it be caused by a cartilage tear or arthritis -- and delay the need for surgery for years, perhaps eliminate it altogether, said Dr. Robert Klapper, medical director of Cedars-Sinai Orthopedic Associates in Los Angeles. 01-21-00.
