      Provides characters to go with text-to-speech functions in Internet Explorer. Warning: Some characters, such as "Joe" and "Kitty," have caused some serious problems with the Awesome Talkster program and should be avoided. 9-02

  2. Multilingual Text-to-Speech Engines (Microsoft)
      Provides free programs that convert online text to speech in Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Dutch, Russian, Korean, Portuguese, Italian, and British English. The free voice engines vary in their quality. Some are not very good. For instance, the Korean voice does not seem to recognize the Korean fonts. The Spanish voice, however, reads text written in Spanish in an understandable way. Requires software to connect the voice programs with a browser. Such a program is available for free here. 9-02

  3. Text-to-Speech (Microsoft)
      Provides software to speak the text in puchased ebooks only. 10-02

  4. Text-to-Speech (Chat to Speech)
      Converts text to speech by highlighting the text you want spoken. Work automatically with some chat programs. Awesome Library does not endorse this program but provides it as an example. 10-02

  5. Text-to-Speech (ShadiSoft.com - WebSpeak)
      Provides a character, called an agent, that talks when visitors open your Web page. Awesome Library does not endorse this program but provides it as an example. 10-02

      Describes how software converts text on a page to voice. 10-02

  7. Text-to-Speech Building (Microsoft.com)
      Observes that "you won't see any character appearing on your computer screen as soon as you install Microsoft Agent or run one of the Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows Me operating systems. This is because Microsoft Agent, by itself, is really a software technology rather than a complete, integral software application. Developers need to first program the Microsoft Agent technology into their applications and Web sites." 10-02

      Provides Microsoft Agent Scripting Helper to gain control over text-to-speech characters without programming skills. Awesome Library does not endorse this product, but provides it as an example. 9-02

  2. Text to Speech or Speech Synthesis - Natural Voices (NextUp.com)
      Programs convert text to speech of high quality. Such programs allow you to hear the words that you read. Provides a demonstration. If the demo does not work, saying you lack a plug-in, try the voice at 8KHz in Wave format. Natural Voices is only available here as part of a NextUp.com bundle that costs as little as $35. This is the least expensive known route to the Natural Voices. Direct from ATT the voices are $150 and still require additional software to interprete. 6-03

  3. Text-to-Speech (SoftVoice)
      Provides voices to license with software. Awesome Library does not endorse this program but provides it as an example. 10-02

  4. Text-to-Speech (Zero2000 Software)
      Provides free trial version of ATTS text-to-speech program. The real version costs 30 dollars. Awesome Library does not endorse this program but provides it as an example. 10-02

  5. Text-to-Speech Control Panel (JustSpeak.com)
      Provides a control panel to modify text-to-voice pronunciation. Awesome Library does not endorse this program but provides it as an example. 10-02

  6. Text-to-Speech Control Panel (Microsoft)
      Provides an icon in your Control Panel for Windows to allow you to modify text-to-voice pronunciation of words you choose to change. Awesome Library does not endorse this program but provides it as an example. 10-02

  7. Text-to-Speech Program (Tucows.com)
      Translates almost any highlighted text, even Web text, to speech. Pitch and speed of speech can be regulated. For example, the Mary in Hall voice can be set to its highest pitch to create a little girl's voice. You need to select a character, show character, highlight text, then press "Ctrl" plus "C" key to start the character speaking. Costs about 20 dollars. Awesome Library does not endorse this product, but provides it as an example. 10-02

  8. Text-to-Speech Synthesis (EnableMart.com)
      Lists products providing a voice to Windows programs. Awesome Library does not endorse these products, but includes them as examples. 9-02

  9. Text-to-Speech With Lip Sync (CrazyTalk)
      Allows digital images to be lip sync'ed with a text-to-speech engine. Awesome Library does not endorse this program but provides it as an example. Given the highest rating by Tucows. 10-02
