  14. Multilingual Text-to-Speech Engines (Microsoft)
      Provides free programs that convert online text to speech in Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Dutch, Russian, Korean, Portuguese, Italian, and British English. The free voice engines vary in their quality. Some are not very good. For instance, the Korean voice does not seem to recognize the Korean fonts. The Spanish voice, however, reads text written in Spanish in an understandable way. Requires software to connect the voice programs with a browser. Such a program is available for free here. 9-02

  15. Online Language Translator (InterTran)
      Translates Web sites between 28 languages, including Russian. Allows translation of single words by placing your mouse over the word. Translations are sometimes very slow. 7-02

  16. Online Web Translations (World Language Resources)
      Provides translations of Web sites. Includes dozens of combinations. Covers translations (both directions) in languages most other online translators do not cover, such as Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Finnish, Hungarian, Icelandic, Norwegian, Filipino (Tagalog), Polish, Romanian, Serbian, Slovenian, Swedish, Welsh, Turkish, and Latin.

      Editor's Note - In our tests, this resource could translate less than half the words we presented online, but it was quick. 12-02

  17. Translation Tools (Foreignword.com) star
      Provides tools for translators, including dictionaries to support 58 languages, a language translation search engine, a translation engine, and a search for context. 6-00

  18. Translations for Your Web Pages (WordReference.com)
      Provides script to allow any word on your Web page to be translated into French, German, Italian, or Spanish by simply "double-clicking" on it. 6-00
